History of Kalanamak Rice
Kala Namak Rice, cultivated in the tarai region of Siddharth Nagar and ten adjacent districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh, stands out as a fragrant rice variety that commands a premium price for farmers compared to other rice varieties.
Renowned for its exceptional taste, palatability, and aromatic qualities, this rice variety has earned recognition as a specialty rice globally, acknowledged by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
With its roots tracing back to the Buddhist period around 600 BC, Kala Namak Rice has a historical presence. Grains from this variety were unearthed during the excavation of Aligarhwa in the Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, situated near the Nepal border.
